In October 2012 I was selected by this wonderful organization to become a Habitat for Humanity homeowner.  Before I received my home I was a single mother (to my daughter Rylee) desperately struggling to make ends meet. When I applied, I had no idea what to expect. When I found out that I was chosen to receive a hand up, it was one of the greatest days of my life.

The sweat equity I put into my house was an incredible experience. It was so rewarding knowing you had a hand in making your dream come true. All the amazing people and volunteers we met along the way was so heartwarming and made us feel so special. I also enjoyed all the events that Habitat let us be a part of. We got to lead out the Color me rad race, and we were able to raise money for our home and had a blast doing it!

This organization has changed our life in more ways than I can even begin to describe. Just weeks after we moved into our new home, we received the tragic news that my daughter’s father had passed away. I was now a single parent raising my little girl all on my own. That house became our sanctuary, our safe haven and our comfort. It was such a relief to know that even though we were going through such a hard time that we were going to be okay and I was able to provide for my daughter. We felt the love throughout the whole Habitat family and continue to be grateful every day for this life changing event. I encourage anyone and everyone to apply and support such an uplifting and life changing organization!
