The day of our Wall raising on our 22nd home was beautiful, which was amazing considering we had rescheduled twice due to weather. The sun was shining and temperatures were in the mid-50s. This home build has been a long time in the making and we at Habitat couldn’t be more exicted! For this Wall Raising we had over 40 volunteers on site from almost all of our major build sponsors. Volunteers from Wells Fargo, Coldwell Banker of Southern Utah, Squatty Potty, Corporate Alliance, Farm Bureau, and Red Rock Rotary worked to raise all of the outside walls.
Our 22nd Homeowners, The Espitia family, were on the build site as well; working alongside volunteers and family members to build their own home. “When I first applied for this home I thought it would be a long shot, but could not resist giving it a try. The surprise and great joy that my children and I felt, when we found out the home was ours, was overwhelming and moved us all to tears. All of the sweet sayings about "Home" would finally be realized for us: Home is where your story begins; Home Sweet Home; Home is where your heart is. Each of these sentiments are true and now every bit ours to experience. We are so blessed to have the opportunity to work with this wonderful organization. Through this experience, I’ll be able to teach my children the meaning of service and charity, and the importance of paying it forward. Thank you Habitat for Humanity from the bottom of our hearts!”
