Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Utah knows that affordable housing changes lives.
We are an organization that builds a better community by providing families a home where they become healthier, where kids leave for school in the morning, do their homework at night, where parents rest from one day and plan for the next. In decent, affordable housing, walls are strong and roofs are secure – and the family inside focuses on thriving instead of surviving!
Nearly 2 billion people around the world live in substandard housing and over 100 million are homeless. HfHSWU strives to eliminate poverty by building simple, decent homes in partnership with the community and those in need.
Owning a home is not easy. It is a lifestyle of persistence, strength and commitment. Habitat homes are not given away. Habitat builds homes in partnership with the community and those in need selling the homes to partner families through a no-profit, zero-interest mortgage. Families must apply, attend home ownership preparation classes, and dedicate up to 500 hours of sweat equity to help build their home and the homes of others.
This ministry couldn’t begin to address poverty housing without financial generosity and volunteer labor. Each house requires $135,000 in monetary and material donations, and more than 4,000 hours of volunteer labor. This combination allows Habitat to sell the homes at reasonable prices.
As such, we need your help. You can help Habitat and make a difference in your community by donating in several different ways:
Your contribution can make the difference for a family. It can give a child a safe room to sleep, strong walls to live in, and a stable home to grow in.
